Dononugh
Sire Brian Boru
Dam Carrowkeel
2005
14.2 hands and growing

Named for the Lion King of Ireland, Brian Boru’s, youngest son. Donnough took the throne by default at a time of great upheaval in Ireland. His wisdom and great heart guided Ireland to years of peace and tolerance earning him an unforgettable place in history as a beloved king.

The great stallion Brian Boru had a reputation with the traveler folk as a producer not “selfish” with his excellent qualities.
He was moved from field to field and his pasture padlocked in an effort to keep folks from slipping their mares in for breeding “sarking”.
An outstanding traditional stallion, he stands at 14.2 hands of compact power. Old, bloodlines and careful breeding had produced one of the great gypsy horse sires. His foals in the UK have brought the “high dollar” and, (as is the case with much good stock) often were traded privately traveler to traveler.
Heavy in feather, short back, clean throatlatch, surreal elastic floating movement are some of his many attributes. I once saw him jump an obstacle in a pasture from standing still directly in front if it.

Our colt Donnough is from Brian Boru’s last breeding year and is one of a handful of his foals in the United States.

He is the mirror of his sire’s markings, feather and bone.
From his dam he received tremendous movement, versatility and balance.
He is the picture of correct and balanced confirmation supporting athletic movement and strength.

Donnough is a favorite facilitator of equine integrative healing work. His genuine and intuitive nature endears him to everyone he meets, melting hearts and breaking barriers.
This gentle, willing and fearless spirit was welcomed by beloved Native American elders at birth and has truly lived up to their vision of him.

News…….
December 2007 Donnough was purchased by our dear friends of Rose Canyon Ranch in California Jen and Paul Godward. We are thrilled that Donnough’s life’s journey and work will continue with their guidance and support.
Congratulations Jen and Paul! It had to be you………
